Tezosとは、スマートコントラクトや分散型アプリケーションに適した新しいプラットフォームです。画期的なガバナンスメカニズムを持ち、そのネットワーク参加者が自ら今後のTezosの方向性に関与する事ができます。
ベーカーを介してステーキングすることで、ブロックチェーンから報酬を得ることができます。ブロックチェーンからの報酬は、一度ベーカーに送金され、ベーカーから各ユーザーに振り分けられます（PoSの仕組みで自動です）。
ウォレットそのものをベーカー（バリデーター）につなげる仕組みをとっており、ウォレット内に保有しているトークンに応じて自動的に報酬が配られます。ウォレットで保有している全数量がステーキングされている状態になり続けます（ただし、最小額の1 XTZを保有していないと報酬は発生しない）。このため、一部のトークンのみステーキングするという機能がありません。また、ベーカーに接続中でも、自由にウォレット内のトークンはいつでも送受信できます。ロック期間等はありません。
報酬はベーカーに接続したのち7サイクル後に配布が開始され、その後は1サイクル毎に配布されます。1サイクルはおおよそ3日間で発生するため、ベーカーに接続後しばらくの期間は報酬は入ってきません（遅れて支払われるので発生はしています）。報酬は自動的にブロックチェーンより分配されるため、「報酬を受け取る」などのアクションはありません。
ステーキング中でも自由にトークンを送受信できます。制約がないため、基本的にステーキングを解除できません（解除する必要がありません）。解除がないため、ロック期間等もありません。
